The Universe is Structured for Life
by abrunstingcomcastnet
This is a summary of the talk from chapter 3 of God Is Here to Stay: Science, Evolution, and Belief in God by T. McFaul and A. Brunsting
The purpose of this book is to answer one question: what does the best scientific knowledge suggest regarding whether or not God exists.
Al, thanks for the talk. I think, on a ground of your presentation, one has rather to conclude in favor of chance. Indeed, the hypothesis of big enough universe/multiverse entails 100% probability of life somewhere in it. This hypothesis can never be refuted, as well as the hypothesis of God’s hand. However the former keeps one, in principle, inside the scientific premises, while the latter requires a dramatic move outside the scope of science. According to the accepted paradigm, the former is more preferable.
