Jim Holt, “Why Does the World Exist?: An Existential Detective Story”
Dear colleagues, I’d like to share with you my joy of reading that rare bestseller among recently written philosophy books.
It’s a book of interviews which the author took from prominent scientists, philosophers and a theologian on its subject, entangled with the author’s own meditations. Jim Holt has a special talent to express deep philosophical ideas in a rather clear way; the book is really well-written.
Jim Holt is an American philosopher, author and essayist. He has contributed to The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, The New York Review of Books, The New Yorker, The American Scholar, and Slate. His book “Why Does the World Exist” was a NYTimes bestseller for 2013.
